The 2009 programme reflected modernity with history.A major part of the programme was staged at the' Five Grand Palaces' in Seoul- Gyeongbokgung, Changgyeonggung, Changdeokgung,Deoksugung and Gyeonghuigung. These were built during the Joseon Dynasty, which lasted nearly five centuries until the early 20th century. The festival commenced with a street parade of people dressed as mythical creatures and in historical costumes. The focus was on the colour pink which was reflected throughout the nine-day programme. The historical programmes at the palaces featured storytelling musical and dance performances and a photo exhibition of the royal family Searching for the Taste of Korea was a presentation of palace cuisine with a special lecture on royal food the king's dishes and a cooking show. Special were shown by a master chef with food tasting afterwards.
