On that day, The President of PPSEAWA International; Ms. Mondhiya Bhangsbha gave an inaugural speech, highlighting our world is under pressure, with growing inequality in access to food and clean water. Therefore the global challenges are becoming more complex and requiring more involvement of international community as a whole. Madame President mentioned that rivers and oceans are becoming a waste dump of plastic with more toxic and micro-plastics. At the present, the micro-plastics are also emerging as a major threat. In addition, recognizing Thailand and the region still lack awareness on how to dispose of plastics properly. Raising awareness to prevent and reduce river and marine pollution of all kinds, particularly from land-based activities are the emerging actions. She trust that this activity which is initiated by the PPSEAWA International representatives at United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Team in Thailand together with the partners The Sustainable Ocean Ambassador, Food and Agriculture Marketing Association (FAMA), Ban Pathum Sub District Administration ,students, teachers, and communities at Ban Pa Thum would be a good start as an inspirations, and sharp focus for everyone, and community both in PPSEAWA and everywhere in global to move together to bring back food and water sustainability.
