A case study of a leading IT solution services firm in India has been exhibited in this
paper. Analysis of organizational sociotechnical system as an antecedent to managerial
retention via managerial job design is an effective approach. The balance between the soft
(social) and hard (technical) factors is maintained by following the focused approach of
sociotechnical system elements in managerial job design. SAP-LAP framework has been
used to structure the various factors playing an important role incidental to managerial
retention. The present organization had developed some remarkable large sale IT
solutions on business fronts and maintained its continuity till early 2000s. The entry of
foreign competitive players into the market of software and hardware solutions provider
followed by the takeover of this organization by an Indian multinational business house
has been the major setback. The cultural disintegration and the misfit of organizational
profiles between the present organization and its parent company since the takeover can
be significantly attributed to the fact of higher managerial turnover and disturbed the
stability of its long-standing middle level managerial pool.
