Abstract
A novel antibacterial biomaterial (PEB) was prepared with ethylenediaminetetraacetic dianhydride (EDTAD), 1,4-diaminobutane (BDA) and anhydrous piperazine (PP) by a condensation polymerization reaction under simple and mild condition. The obtained material's chemical structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). Moreover, the antibacterial properties of this material were tested with Staphylococcus aureus by the disc diffusion method and the results revealed that it had an excellent antibacterial activity for S. aureus. Specially, the antibacterial properties of PEB depended on its composition; the greater the content of BDA, the stronger the antibacterial ability.
