Neuman's system model
The model focuses on the well-being and the holistic care of the patient (Dewan & Lowry 2006). It is largely centred on the theories of stress and the response towards stress, within the patients environment, also known as an open system. The system comprses five interrelating factors: biological, mental, interactive environmental, social- cultural, developmental and spiritual effects.
The Neuman's system model dagram (Figure 1) shows the patient's structure as a centralised circle that holds the basic functions of life that is sumounded by many concentric circles. The circles signify lines of resistance
