1.3. Objectives
Development of engineered bamboo for structural applications
is growing. Studies vary from utilising whole bamboo culms and
processing the material into commercial board products that are
then manufactured into a structural member. The method of processing
the material varies greatly and the effects of processing
treatments have yet to be fully explored. The present work investigates
the mechanical properties of two commercial laminated
bamboo products: bleached and semi-caramelised bamboo. The
results will be compared to other bamboo and wood products.
The objective of the present study is to determine the influence,
if any, of processing on the mechanical properties of engineered
bamboo products.
