The growth of domestic trade demanded the enactment of a new trademark law that could facilitate commerce better. In 1931 during the reign of King Rama VII, the Trademark Act B.E. 2474 was proclaimed. The British Trade Mark Act 1905 had much influence on the drafting of this Act. This new law then then abrogated the Law on Trade Marks and Trade Names of B.E.2457. The Trademark Act B.E.2474 had been in force for a long period of time. During the period of its application, the Act was amended twice in B.E. 2476 (1933)and in B.E.2504(1961)
