Finally, the results of this study could be used to develop survey research
regarding color-conscious leadership perspectives in an attempt to generalize such a
model. A nationwide sample of principals working in segregated, White-staffed schools
as identified by state departments of education could be invited to participate. Such a
study could entail survey questions regarding a principal’s own racialized background
experiences as well as questions pertaining to how they perceive race-based situations in
their schools and how they engage such situations to further identify and understand
connections between these two dimensions. Results from this proposed study would
support districts in developing interview protocols that identity both principals and
teachers better equipped with the requisite skills to work in schools that serve
predominantly Black children.
