In its defense Microsoft argues that these enhancements and
improved features benefit users--- it is simple developing better technology
for its customers and preventing its operating system from becoming
anachronistic in a fast-changing world. Thus Microsoft continues to insist that
its bundling efforts are not anticompetitive because they create value
for consumers. It hopes the court of public opinion will finally accept
this argument and that its future will not be mired by additional antitrust
lawsuits. As Gates has repeatedly said, there is no magic line between an application
and an operating system, and,if there is a limit, who should determine it?
