Without doubt, the career success of subordinates largely depends on their ability to choose and follow the dominant pattern of interaction as regards multiple superiors. In other words, it depends on the person’s ability to accurately perceive superiors’ preferences among the interaction systems. If the most powerful superiors believe that the dominant interaction system should be the “traditional” one, then astute subordinates will try to behave according to the “rules of the game” of that particular interaction system. Once the dominant group of superiors accept the behavior of the subordinates, the job security and advancement of the latter are guaranteed as long as the same group of superiors continues to hold power within the provincial bureaucracy.
