3.2.2 Drought identifiable indicators
Drought identifiable indicators are related to weather conditions (rainfall, sunshine) and its impact on the crops (Table 6). Majority of the respondents (83.3%) stated that drought could be developed at any growth stages of rice crop if there was no rainfall during that time. On the other hand, 50 percent of the respondents mentioned indicator of drought as state of being not enough rainfall during the planting time (rice, sugarcane, cassava) and another 30 percent of the respondents mentioned the strong sunshine or too much hot as a indicator of drought. In the group discussion, farmers expressed that soil moisture remained for longer period of time during cloudy days in comparison to hot and sunny days. A few farmers felt that too much dust was also sign of drought.
