When answering the question “Do you feel that you are addicted to Social Media?” the majority, 59%,
stated that they agreed, followed by the 22.4% who said they remained neutral on the topic. The answer to
this question assessed the personal perception the participants had on their social media addiction. These
responses help further the claim that because Generation Yers are using these sites so frequently they are
aware of a possible addiction, while others feel that they could live with or without social media access. A
large amount of respondents said neutral because the parameters of social media addiction are undetermined,
as well as the word “addiction” has a variety of negative connotations.
