effect and improve lung and respiratory muscle capacities.For endurance and strengthening exercises, they should be promoted as early aspossible to improve the physical fitness; however, it is depended on the patient’s condition and wound healing. The purposes of endurance exercise are to restore the capacity of heart, lungs and blood vessels. Walking outside or on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes per day is suggested. Furthermore, exercise with arm ergometer, stationary bike or swimming may be recommended. Strengthening exercise by resistance training can increase muscle mass and muscle strength in burn patient. The patient can use dumbbell, elastic bands or own body weight to resist the trained muscles; however, the resistance should not be too heavy. Other exercises are suggested to increase muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness such as Tai Chi, Yoga or Pilates. The exercise prescription for this patient can be used following the FITT principle based on patient’s condition.
