Introduction
Cancer of the vulva is a rare condition, accounting for
between 3–5% of gynaecological malignancies (Di Saia et al.
1979) or approximately 1000 women in the UK, 3900 in the
USA and 27,000 women worldwide each year. It commonly
affects women aged over 70 years, but in recent years
younger women are being affected due to infection with the
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) (Joura et al. 2002)
