Snacking is part of the day-to-day lives of children. There are 6
billion child based snacking occasions each year (Mintel, 2007).
Confectionary, biscuits and savoury snacks (including crisps and
extruded snacks) are snack items most commonly consumed. More
needs to be done in terms of producing snacks with a positive
health benefit, especially for children (Mintel, 2009).
