Assessing the total inactivation effectiveness of the different set-ups
In order to determine the capacity of the different treatments to inactivate
bacteria in thewhole experimental system, the reduction levels
achieved on the lettuce leaves and in the treated waterwere calculated.
For this purpose, the survivals were obtained based on the amount of
the detached bacteria following the stomaching of the lettuce leaves
and the bacteria levels in the water, all expressed in CFU/mL. The initial
population was obtained from the corresponding control samples.
