Reporters at the education Ministry yesterday issue a statement urging
Education Minister Suchart Tadatamrongvej to respect their work.
They affirmed they had done their duty as journalists responsibly, asking questions on behalf of parents, children and stakeholders and reporting facts – never twisting words as claimed. They said a previous statement by the minister challenged media credibility and their reports were from a recorded interview whit him.
The reporters were responding to a statement from the Education Minister’s Office and on the ministry’s website (www.moe.go.th) last Friday dismissing a report about a Suchart instruction over the O-net exam as untrue. The statement said Suchart had asked the national institute of Educational Testing Services to organize fewer exams and that reporters might have misunderstood and misquoted Suchart ,leading to a negative impact on the credibility of the country’s education sector.
