Antioxidant capacity evaluation
The antioxidant capacity was assessed using one method
based on reduction of a ferric tripyridyl-s-triazine complex
to its ferrous form, namely FRAP assay (ferric reducing
antioxidant power) as described by Benzie and Strain
(1996). And two other methods based on measurement
of free radical scavenging using ABTS [2, 2′-azinobis
(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammoinium salt]
as reported by Re et al. (1999) and DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-
picrylhydrazyl) as reported by Arnous et al. (2001) were
also used.
