CONCLUSIONS
According to the evaluation of total chlorophyll content, phenolic constituents and antioxidant
properties of chlorophyll ethanolic extracts from Gnetum gnemon Linn. leaves, we found that Gnetum
gnemon Linn.leaves could be used as a good food colorants and source of natural antioxidant.
Chlorophyll extracts from the old leaves possessed higher levels of chlorophyll content than other leaf
parts. While, all of three parts of leaf did not significantly different in total phenolic content. Therefore,
the antioxidant activities in apex are mainly hydrophilic compounds, as a result of high ABTS and
FRAP activity. On the other hand, in young and old leaves are mainly hydrophobic compounds, as
indicate by DPPH activity.
