The Milwaukee Bucks and forward John Henson have agreed to terms on a four-year, $44 million contract extension, which would keep the 24-year-old Henson in the fold of the Bucks' young and improving core.
Henson, the Bucks' first-round pick in 2013, has become a valued part of the team's rotation as a shot-blocking big man off the bench. In his second season, he averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game. His minutes went down last season, but Henson still was viewed as a key part of the team's future. In Milwaukee's first-round loss to the Bulls last spring, Henson averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds against Chicago.
The Bucks signed free agent center Greg Monroe in the summer, but never stopped working with Henson's representatives toward a new deal, one that is in line with what other reserve bigs have received in recent years, like Chicago's Taj Gibson (four years, $38 million in 2012).
ESPN.com first reported the sides had reached agreement on an extension.
