5. Research findings
The main purpose of the research was to assess the importance of training in hospitality industry. In the same way, in order to survey the importance of training in Hilton Hotel, the questionnaire was divided into three parts. Regarding the analysis, Excel software program was used to test the data and the interpretation of it. All the data are interpreting in percentage on the base of 100% respondents.
In the case of Hilton Hotel, the management is very careful about the training. Most of the training is informed by the department supervisor, he is responsible for the staff training and time period of the training because-supervisor knows the training needs. From the kitchen department most of the employees attended training courses such as HACCP, First Aid, save energy and recycling, then housekeeping and food and service department employees have been attending in equal percentage. During the training period, most of respondents are satisfied with the training provided and most of them prefer to have on the job training, because it helps them to face any problems occurring in their job. Additionally, plenty of them find training helpful, well planned in long-term view and well implemented and also consider that these training courses express Hilton service spirit, and encourage them to perform better in their work fields.
Dissatisfactions from employees point of view:
Some participants suggested that training is part of their everyday work tasks which cost too much time and sometimes they have to work overtime due to the fact that they have spent time for training, and also that the training content is repeated. Three respondents claimed that training for beginners contain too much theory, which is distracting when sitting a long day in the training room. Moreover, some respondents indicate that more specific trainings should be organized, such as obtaining knowledge about wine and other language training besides English
