After the adsorption experiment, the protein release from the hydrogel was then determined. The result is shown in this figure.
When comparing between different proteins, it seems that lysozyme with the smaller molecular size had faster release rate than the larger BSA protein.
Nevertheless, the release properties of both proteins shows similar trend. As shown in these two graphs, the protein release rate decrease with increasing PEGDE content which suggest that hydrogel with higher degree of crosslinking may have stronger gel structure with smaller pore size that could suppress the release of protein molecules from the hydrogels.
