Customized Type 5 and Customized Type 10 systems are
results of an important contribution of Gaury, Kleijnen, and
Pierreval in 2001 (Gaury et al., 2001) to a method of pull systems
customization. This method consists mainly of three steps: use a
generic model that has all kinds of pull control; simulate the
application of this method using the productive system characteristics
in which the customized pulled MFC is to be
implemented; and obtain the desired parameter values based on
simulation results. While the solution proposed by the Customized
Type 5 is very special, yet this is an adaptation of kanban
system logic. This system has decentralized control and limited
WIP at certain stages, which makes it a non-follower of the
original logic. In addition, the Customized Type 5 can be used
effectively in environments with variability in processing times.
Customized Type 10 is another example of high-feature, but it still
is an adaptation of the kanban system logic. The control is
decentralized and there is limited WIP. Moreover, this system can
be used effectively in productive environments with certain
variability in processing times with low machines reliability and
bottlenecks
