2.2.3. Preparation of the nanocomposite membrane via
interfacial polymerization
Interfacial polymerization is a method that is widely used to deposit
layers and modify surfaces [26,27,32–34]. In this study, it is used to
deposit polyamide (PA)/iron oxide nanoparticles on the membrane
surface. The procedure of an interfacial polymerization is as followsimpregnation of membrane surface with aqueous solution, removal of
excess aqueous solution, neighboring the membrane with organic
solution, rinsing the membrane, and finally removing excess organic solution and curing the membrane in an oven. For this purpose, piperazine
was dissolved in water and formed the aqueous phase in this reaction.
In the mean time, trimesoyl chloride (TMC) was settled into normal
hexane and formed the organic phase. For sufficient stabilization
of nanoparticles on the membrane surface, iron oxide nanoparticles
