UNIQLO has something called the “SPA Model”. The company has adopted the SPA models for controlling all stages of business (Mohanty, 2012). SPA stands for specialty store retailer of private label apparel. The SPA model is one of the largest strengths of UNIQLO because it allows the company to provide high quality casual wear at a low price (Kinashi, 2011). The SPA model is critical in fast fashion. The SPA model gives a competitive advantage against the competitors. UNIQLO is also one of the top five Japanese apparel retailers. According to Fast Retailing (2013), UNIQLO is the fourth largest SPA retailer. The first three spots of major SPA retailers are Zara, H&M, and Gap. UNIQLO ranks third on worldwide market capitalization. However, UNIQLO is the number one specialty store in Japan. The global ranking of UNIQLO is a strength because of the opportunity to grow globally with a credible brand image.
