Many thanks for your email regarding sizes and type of alloys that your customer wishes to weld.
This will need an AW1320 welder. Our technical department have explained further why we need this welder please see comments below.
1) 5052 & 5154 are difficult tough alloys both have higher tensile properties than copper. We have records of welding both alloys.
2) The CW 5E is unsuitable to weld these alloys due to the high uts of the materials.
3) The AW1320 using 'special' die inserts would be required; Acceptance of an order would be subject to assessing customers sample material for geometry and tolerance limits. The customer should also be made aware due to the nature and geometry of the material die life cannot be guaranteed.
I would suggest that the customer sends us some samples of his rod and once we have checked the geometry and we have the details from him of the tolerance limits then we can look at possibly producing die inserts for testing purposes which due to the material and type of insert required the customer will need to purchase these. A quotation is attached for the inserts plus a separate one for the machine and die case.
I have requested a seafreight charge from our forwarder up to Bangkok Port if this is not the correct port please advise.
I look forward to hearing from you once the customer has had chance to study proposal.
