Well, let me go back to the point that we spent a lot of time on in the book, and let's use an example from the United States. The productivity, by and large, of Japanese plants is significantly higher than the productivity of U.S. plants. Now, there is a range. I mean, there are some U.S. plants that are really quite good and better than the average Japanese plant. If one looks at the reasons for the difference, the reasons are not the degree of automation. The reasons are the extent to which lean production techniques have been adopted. Let me give you an example. The example is the NUMMI plant -- it's an interesting example -- in Van Nuys, Calif.
