Bleich (1995) offered an empirical model useful for observing decision-making in nursing practice. In observations of clinical practice, Bleich noted that some decisions are embedded in routine practices, some require cooperation, and other highly complex situations require collaboration this model is extremely important as it establishes, through naturalistic observation, that a variety of decision-making strategies are effective and that effective is dependent on the problem. This empirical model is also congruent with new thinking and research findings about decision-making the model, Therefore, could form the basis of research study to begin to understand and describe how nurses make decisions in clinical practice.
