Asian Trails is working in partnership with OSMOSE, a not-for-profit association, which has implemented a pilot conservation and development project in Prek Toal on the Tonle Sap Lake. The site is critical for the survival of several species of endangered water-birds. The venture aims to link the preservation of the water-birds colonies to the sustainable growth of the local communities. The Osmose program has carried out an integrated approach through conservation, education and eco-tourism.
The cruise from Siem Reap to Battambang by our wooden boat takes about 6 to 7 hours from August to February. During the dry season-from March to July, the transfer can take 9 hours due to the low level of water. If the water level is to low, we will operate the journey from Siem Reap to Battambang by road with a visit to the secluded temple Bantey Chmar. Take note that the best season to view the birds is from November to January.
