The National Security Council is on alert ahead of the anti-amnesty bill rallies, as protest leaders have said they will step up their anti-government demonstrations on Friday.
According to National Security Council secretary general Lt. Gen. Paradorn Pattanatabut, the agency will closely keep an eye on the rallies whether they will employ more aggressive strategies, which may cause more disturbances in the capital city.
Lt. Gen. Paradorn expressed concerns that an unknown third party might exploit the situation to further their cause, which would widen the rifts between groups.
He suggested authorities prepare enough forces and be on red alert for the possibility of escalated situation. With demonstrators moving from one spot to another around Bangkok, police should be ready to ease traffic gridlock caused by the action, said Lieutenant General Paradon.
He expressed his hope that the Constitutional Court's ruling on the origin of Senate would be positive for the government's stability and help ease the current tension.
