the power of positive unconditional regard
Uncondictional love is known as affection without limitations, loving without condictions. The term unconditional regard is an important aspect of human forms of psycho therapy. This was first credicted by Carl Rogers and it is used in the client centered therapy. Practicing positive regard means accepting and respecting others as they are without judgment or evaluation. This is very important in the educational system and even back home. If I am to consider a good education for students or good parecting, it is not going to be on the techniques use but what matter first is loving people unconditionally , you must accept them no matter what they say or do, see yours students as persons and not a set of behaviors. Unconditional could be seen as "while many teachers or parents offer their children of students unconditional regard because it is something natural within, a few offer their students or children positive regard which requires their mental efforts and commitments"
Many of us have had the experience of being buoyed up by adult praise. There was a teacher, grandmother, coach—a trusted adult—who looked at us and communicated in some fashion, "I notice you for who you are, and who you are is worthy."
Positive regard of your human existence is not an earned status. You don't have to dance a certain way, dress a certain way, talk a certain way, or do anything special to be special.,everyone one is special in one way or the other. People who have not experienced unconditional regard from childhood have a harsher life because they are not always themselves.
Our passion for achievement testing has made it made it difficult to praise our students for who they really are not only because of their academics potentials, this has been countered by Carol Dweeck's he makes it clear that educators are to praise students. it is important to know that students need more than just data to be the best;they need our emotional connection much more.
Our educational system is not to outscore other countries on standardized test, we don't teach our students beacause we want to compare them with students from other countries. Students should be allowed to achieve basic skills and be creative. They should be allowed to create their own thoughts, not us creating thoughts for them this will make them happy to learn. we must learn to tell our students individually how lovely, creative and funny they are. We must always understand that there is something unique and wonderful in every human being. Tell students how important they are to you and how they have made you learn new things.
