3.2.2. Biodiesel demand forecasting
Biodiesel investments are rapidly growing in Turkey. However, there are still some challenges ahead. The installed capacity reached to 561,217 tonnes or nearly 0.7 million m3 in 2011, but only one licensed biodiesel company produced 11,646 tonnes and sold 10,136 tonnes of this to licensed distributors in the same year [23]. This misbalance between capacity and demand is related to regulatory problems. Since there is no mandatory biodiesel blend till 2014 the demand is still low. However, considerable growth is expected in the coming years. Using the diesel demand data obtained from Eqs. (9) and (11) and the mixing ratios given in Scenario 1/Table 2 minimum and maximum expected biodiesel demand in Turkey, between 2013 and 2023, is calculated. The results are reported in Table 7.
