Origins of Ebola
Scientists know that the Ebola virus does not naturally occur in humans. Human help transmit the virus when they come in contact with another animal species. But scientists are not sure of the exact origins of the Ebola virus. Since the virus almost always occurs in remote villages in Africa, scientists have a theory. In many of these villages, the villagers hunt monkeys in the jungle for much of their food. One recent case of Ebola was found in the Philippines. People were eating pigs and the meat was infected with the virus. They speculate that there might be a link. One case occurred in the United States in Reston,Virginia in 1989. But this did not involve hunting wild animals. To this day, the Ebola virus is one of the deadliest viruses on the planet. It is considered worse than cancer or HIV
