The application of new polymers is accompanied by a growing interest in bactericidal substances that can be incorporated into these materials. Bactericidal properties of polymer packaging materials are improved by the introduction into the polymer matrix a bioactive agent in the process of adsorption or immobilization through covalent or ionic bonding. It has been confirmed in numerous studies that many bactericidal substances including organic acids, enzymes, bacteriocins, plant extracts, chitosan or metal nanoparticles may be introduced into polyolefins. The results obtained by Conte et al. (2007) indicate high immobilization of lysozyme (a natural enzyme with bactericidal properties),
