Shrimp waste is an important source of bioactive mo
lecules and it undergoes rapid disintegration which
leading to
environmental pollution. It is necessary to preserv
e the material adopting the environmentally safe te
chniques, prior to
recovery of bioactive components such as proteins a
nd carotenoids. Aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) par
titioning has been
used to recover and concentrate proteins from Shrim
p Waste and offers many advantages along with bioma
ss removal.
Hence, a feasible protocol for the recovery of prot
ein from Shrimp Waste has been established. The bes
t conditions of
partitioning were achieved using ATPS composed of P
EG 4000, ammonium citrate salt, pH8, 1M addition of
sodium
chloride, and 36.28 Tie line length. The maximum pe
rcentage yield of protein extracted from shrimp was
te was found to be
74.50%
