The firing loss value of the samples increased with increase in the amount of residue addition. There was no black coring observed at the broken cross-section of the residue containing fired samples. This is an important observation, because evolving gases due to combustion of organicsisthe main drawback of organic porosifier in clay body. Absence of black coring indicates that pulp residues were completely burnt out and gas evolution was completed before the closing of surface porosities due to the sintering of clay at the applied firing procedure. No cracking and bloating were observed on the fired samples.
