at the centre of effective regional event tourism development is community involvement( Moscardo, 2007). This can include opportunities for residents to interact, have fun, support civic pride and develop social relationships. The event can reinforce community identity and a sense of place as well as fostering emotional attachment to the community's landscape and environment (Derrett,2003). It is also from the community that the majority of volunteers come. The community is a mix of associations as well as civic and religious leaders. Local government officials will also live in the community, rely on the residents' vote and receive feedback from the residents.
