Feasibility on dye preparation form the bark of pterocarpus macrocarpus as powder on adsorbent
Abstract: praadu Paa tree is one type of a popular hardwood. The scientific name of Praadu is Pterocarpus macrocarpus. It was generally used as furniture for home or instruction home. From Thai Wisdom knowledge erport the jplant that give the pigment form the part of plant such as Clitoria ternated L. or common name as unchan marigold .etc. The aim of this work is to study feasibility yo prepare dye in powder from Praadu Paa, sine the local people still use the bark of Pradoo Plant to Prepare brown dye solution in dyeing process. In this word, the bark of Pterocarpus macrocarpus macrocarpus was treated by 5 methods, such as boiled in water, soak in 1 % NaOH, 5% acetic acid,10% ethanol and white spirit for 24 hours. Then, those dye solutions were purifird by 3 types adsorbents such as marly limestone.silica gel and bentonite clay. Finally, the dye was removed out and prepared as dye power. The powder of those dyes were studied the efficiency of adsorption on cotton fiber. The results showed that the extracted dye solution from 5 solvent s gave brown color and the dye could be purified by 3 adsorbents. The white spirit was the best extracted solvent to separate brown pigment from Pterocarpus macrocarpus which was purified on the silica gel gave the higest yield of brown dye powder at 5.05%. However, the analysis of the analysis of the exhaustion(%E) on cotton fiber result showed that the dye which was extracted by 5% acetic acid and purified by marly limestone gave the highest %E at 85.40%. Thus the brown dye powder possibly prepared from the bark of Pterocarpus macrocarpus by using above 5 methods pass through the adsorption process on surfaceof each adsorbent.
