หน้าศาลารายและหอกลอง
There are altogether ten of these small pavilions found around the temple ground used for the general public activities. The pillars and walls of these pavilions are affixed with the inscribed stone slaps contain various texts, traditional knowledges and sciences. In the old days, people traditionally passed the knowledge to only their descendents just to keep it within the family. With high concerns that the old-skills would die away with those masters, the King then ordered to have this temple a center of public learning and to generate more study of these old-scholars to people. This has marked Wat Pho "The first public University of Thailand". The inscriptions shall be grouped into 8 main topics, they are;
The history of Wat Pho
Buddhism
Medical Prescriptions
Health
Wise sayings
Literature
Register of Tributary states of the Kingdom
Public Customs
The two topics have been well in particular interest are the Medical Prescriptions and Health which have made Wat Pho here the center of Thai traditional medicine and massage technique until the present day.
