The relationship between pain self-report and aggressive behavioral symptoms is summarized in Table 2. In unadjusted analyses, pain self-report was positively associated with verbally aggressive symptoms . In the multivariate analysis adjusted for explanatory variables (e.g., impairments of ADLs, cognitive impairment comorbidities, use of pain medications, and sociodemographic variables, the relationship between pain and verbally aggressive behavioral symptoms was essentially unchanged. In an adjusted analyses using pain self -report, residents with more severe pain had a 12% increased odds of verbally aggressive behavioral symptoms compared with those with less severe pain.
