PBAT is a random copolymer of butylene adipate and Terphthalate which has shown to
be fully biodegradable when composted. This polymer owes its biodegradability to butylene
adiapte group and owes its stability and mechanical properties to the therphthalate part.

Due to
the random structure of the copolymer, PBAT generally cannot crystallize to a significant
degree, hence it has a wide melting peak unlike that of either the aliphatic or the aromatic
homopolymers, poly(butylenb adipate) and poly(butylene terphthalate), respectively
