Information on the proportion of self-recruitment is
needed to establish a self-sustaining MPA network (Almany et al.,
2007). A recent study has revealed a high amount of self recruitment
of anemonefishes (A. ocellaris and Amphiprion perideraion)
in Spermonde Archipelago
They
suggest establishment of small marine protected areas (MPAs) at
every island or reef, not a single MPAs, to allow for replenishment
of exploited populations by self recruitment.
