Korean pair share lead following third round
INCHEON: Multiple winner Kim Kyung-Tae and journeyman Kim Seung-Hyuk shot matching five-under-par 67s yesterday to share the lead after three rounds of One Asia’s SK Telecom Open at Sky72 Golf Club in Incheon,west of Seoul.
The pair are nine under around the the 7,241-yard Ocean Course, two ahead of overnight leader Lee Tae-Hee (73) and Lee Kyoung-Hoon (69), with Australian David Bransdon (69) one further back.
Aussie Jason Scrivener (67) roared up the board to a share of sixth by matching the day’s best to go to five under, while star draw KJ Choi (70) is not out of it at four under.
Kim Kyung-Tae claimed the GS Caltex Maekyung Open on OneAsia in 2011, a year after becoming the first Korean to win the Japan Tour’s Order of Merit. With 10 career victories to his name he is one of the most successful players in the field, but has been winless since 2012 and spent the winter remodelling his swing in a bid to recapture his touch.
“I have been coaching myself for the past three years but this year I took some outside advice and it is starting to pay off,” said the 27-year-old, nicknamed 'KT' on tour.
