A key goal of crop simulation modelling is, given a plant’s genetic
background, to accurately simulate plant responses to the environment without the requirement of first growing the plant. By
growing the plant, one can measure key developmental stages and
can relate these stages to linear (thermal time) or non-linear (beta
function) temperature response functions [1,2].
