Background and Statement of the Problem
Teaching English to English as foreign language (EFL) students is quite challenging since their English foundation background is very low. In Thai context, most students lack of English language proficiency which may affect teaching procedure and students themselves in many ways. Due to students’ inadequate of English knowledge and limitation in English communication, the students cannot go through each step of the course and accomplish goal of the course successfully. Not only background knowledge and ability in using English, but the varieties of learning styles are also the problem. Different students learn in different ways - by seeing and hearing; reflecting and acting; reasoning logically and intuitively, analyzing and visualizing, etc. The way in which an individual of students acquires, retains, and retrieves information are collectively termed the individual’s learning style (Karthigeyan and Nirmala, 2013). The teachers, hence, have to take much effort to convey the class effectively in order to ensure that class time is productive for students of mixed learning styles.
