2. Materials and methods
2.1. Culture of V. alginolyticus
A known pathogenic strain of V. alginolyticus isolated from
diseased L. vannamei, which displayed symptoms of anorexia,
lethargy, poor growth, and whitish musculature was used for the
study [4]. The broth culture of V. alginolyticus followed a previously
reported method [15]. Bacterial pellets were resuspended in saline
solutions at 7.5 107, 7.0 107, and 9.3 107 colony-forming unit
(cfu) ml1 as stock bacterial suspensions for the resistance, and
phagocytic activity and clearance efficiency tests, respectively.
