Therefore, based on theoretical underpinning and the foregoing rationale, we seek to examine how
antecedent factors considered critical to organisational adoption of ERP could influence achievement
of competitive advantage. These factors include system quality, information quality, organisational
readiness, environmental assessment and strategic value and each will be examined robustly to
determine their role in influencing the achievement of competitive advantage from ERP. We define
perceived system quality (PSQ), perceived information quality (PIQ) and perceived strategic value
(PSV) as the perceptions of managers about the quality and value of the ERP system that they are
considering adopting.
