It is well known that the maintenance of health behaviours
is imperative for patients with CADs to prevent recurrence
of their CAD and fatal cardiac events (Yusuf et al.
2004). To maintain healthy behaviours, such as adherence
to medication regimens, smoking cessation, weight control,
regular exercise and a healthy diet, multidisciplinary healthcare
providers have tried to develop and apply such interventions
as self-management programmes (Sol et al. 2008).
Self-efficacy has been mentioned as one of the important basic elements in chronic-disease self-management programmes
(Swendeman et al. 2009).
