Sandfly (SF) viruses are arthropod-borne viruses transmitted to humans by the bite of phlebotomine sandflies.
Serosurveys have indicated that the Mediterranean basin is
an endemic region of SF viruses. Clinical syndromes caused
by SF viruses range from a brief, self-limited febrile illness
to meningoencephalitis. Here we present an unusually severe case with hemmorhagic-fever-like manifestations.
