The primary goal in remodeling the kitchen for this very busy family of five was to improve traffic flow and increase storage. The angled peninsula was replaced with a large double-sided center island, and the wall cabinets were taken to the ceiling. A closet was upgraded to a pantry cabinet with wide roll-outs. The Mushroom painted perimeter cabinets maintain lightness, while the stained rustic birch island provides a casual element, in keeping with the client’s overall relaxed decorating style.
